Mary graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She moved to the Milwaukee, WI area and took her first job in the area of medical surgical nursing at St Joseph’s Hospital. From there she took a position with St Michael’s Hospital on the inpatient physical rehabilitation unit. Eventually, the group of physical medicine physicians for the Covenant Hospital system asked her to work for them as a nurse clinician, where she stayed for 7 years. The patient population she worked with ranged from young adults to mature adults with varied diagnoses including neurological diseases, orthopedic surgeries, amputations, chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, strokes, and chronic diseases such as Parkinson’s, MS, Guillain Barre, diabetes.

Mary moved to Arizona in 1997 where her experience has included Rehabilitation Liaison for HealthSouth Rehab Hospitals, clinical research, Non-Profit Healthcare start-up, worker’s compensation case management for GENEX Services and Bass and Babb Companies, Managed Care Sales, physical therapy utilization review, and gynecological oncology/chemo nursing. She has received certificates in Case Management, Life Care Planning, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Sandler Sales Training and RN Patient Advocacy.

The years of widely-varied experience has prepared her for her most recent endeavor as an Independent RN Patient Advocate. Her role is assisting patients and their families with education, coordination, guidance and advocacy through an integrative medical model of healthcare and wellness.
